Is it just me?

Is it just me or is satan working extra hard lately? I've been finding it a little more difficult to find the blessings amidst the hard things going on. There are still many good things going on and lots of fun but it seems like it's taking more effort to remember the good vs. the bad.

The start of 2006

Well though Husband has been working nonstop, we managed to get a good half day together today. The weekend was good for me though the resting and playing came before the working and errands (I prefer the opposite for my usual weekend plans.).

This week is busy but lots of good things are planned, so I'm looking forward to experiencing each day. It seems like that is how this year will be-- lots of busyness and plans but lots of good stuff too.

Husband thinks this is our year of surprises and I think he's right. I wonder what our first surprise will be?

Say what?!

"You're not on the list and you haven't paid to take the class."
This quote was said to me on the phone last night as I was walking out the door to my quilting class. I've been signed up for the class for two months but for whatever reason there was a mix up but the teacher still let me come. Whew!

"I don't like to quilt."
This quote was one of the first things our quilting teacher told us last night when she began the class. Suffice it to say I got a little worried when I heard this and had to have her repeat (and explain) herself. Turns out she likes designing and piecing the quilts more than sewing the three layers of the quilts together (She lets another quilting buddy do that part for her.).

My class last night was so awesome! It was fun and my teacher is awesome! She's hilarious and very knowledgeable. Her husband comes to take pictures of the classes to put on the store's website, so one day soon my embarassed face will be on the web making my quilt.

Three more weeks to go and I'm on my way!

Today's the day!

Today's the day I begin to learn to quilt! I'm stinkin' excited and can't believe I have to wait until tonight to go. I ironed all my fabrics last night, which if anyone knows me at all, was a tremendous feat for me. (Might I add that all the fabrics are still pretty wrinkly looking?!)

I can't wait to reveal to all my finished quilt. I'll probably end up carrying it around with me for days so everyone I know can see it. I'll have my own special "binkie."

The fabrics, dahling!

Husband is working this weekend so I'm spending my days being lazy and getting better. Today's one errand was to buy fabric for my quilting class this Tuesday. I had so much fun picking fabric in that store that I think that's my favorite part so far of quilting. (By the way, Meredith couldn't be with me today in favor of the nap she so desperately needed. I missed you Mere, but I hope you got some good rest. I can't wait to show you these fabrics!) These fabrics are so fun and funky and pretty all at the same time that I just can't wait the 4 weeks it will take me to make the quilt! I am praying this teacher doesn't mess me up this time (I don't think she will.) and that I will go on to many future years of quilt-making. Just wait until you see it!

Snow, snow, snow, snow, snowwwwwwwwww!

Where's the snow?! It's like spring here when it should be winter. I heard thunder twice last week which tells me I'm expecting what, for our area, should be blizzard like conditions. Where is it?! I've got some candles, water and milk. I want to have to rush to the store for bread and batteries and cans of soup. I want to try to remember the friends with fireplaces in their homes and play games while trying to see by flashlight and candlelight. So bring the snow!

Never again

So I am getting over yet another infection, having been sick AGAIN. The doctor gave me lots of medicines, one of them being something to help me sleep. Well the other night the instructions for this medicine were not very clear so suffice it to say I accidentally took too much and was loopy the following day (yesterday).

Jesus totally protected me and took care of me because I went to work and made it through a whole day and night before "sobering up" today and realizing how out of it I really was. I never want to be that drugged again, even accidentally like this was. What a scary experience.

On a lighter note, my quilting class begins next week and I am EXCITED! Husband and I will go shop for fabrics for the quilt this weekend. Woohoo!

It's about time! 365 days to be exact!

Well happy new year 2006 everybody (the three of you that read this site- wink wink). I am extremely happy to see last year go and a new year begin. 2005 was a very difficult year for Husband and me in many ways, but in the last month as we have been gearing up for the annual change, we've found many blessings to be thankful for:

*Husband got a permanent job that he likes with great benefits
*Brother is still safe in Iraq (or as safe as can be)
*We will see Grandpa again one day; in the meantime he is having the time of his life with Jesus
*My job is rockin' awesome as always and my boss thinks I am VERY good at it
*Our new nephew was born in September and is stinkin' blinkin' cute
*Our friends are wonderful as always and truly from God
*Husband and I are closer since he quit his part-time job back in April

And the list continues... Thank you Lord for the good times and the difficult times. May the good times outweigh the difficult times!
